Promoting the Wellbeing of Female Physicians

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a disproportionate toll on the wellbeing of health care professionals around the world. While media coverage highlighted the stark reality of physician burnout and fatigue, the true crisis facing our healthcare system and society has not been fully recognized. By 2033, the United States will experience a shortage of up to 124,000 physicians (4). In fact, a recent survey of 20,665 health care workers found that approximately one in five physicians and two in five nurses intend to leave their practice within two years (5). Dr. Christine Sinsky, AMA vice president of professional satisfaction, says that “if even one-third to one-half of nurses and physicians carry out their expressed intentions to cut back or leave, we won’t have enough staff to meet the needs of patients” (2).

Women's Pay Gap Today Requires Investing For Tomorrow

A survey by S&P Global found that only 26% of American women have money in the stock market. Additionally, “the average female investor keeps 68% of her portfolio in cash and cash equivalents, like money market accounts, Treasury bills, and certificates of deposit”, according to BlackRock. This is a concern due to factors like: women statistically live longer than men and they make 82 cents on the dollar to their male counterparts which means they should consider long-term growth focused related to their assets. Building wealth is a slow and steady process.

Be One Less – Cervical Cancer Prevention

Back in 2007, you might recall this catchy commercial for Gardasil – the vaccine to help protect women against cancer-causing HPV types. The commercials had the clear message of “one less,” because with the help of the vaccine, “one less” woman would be diagnosed with, or die from cervical cancer.
