The Well 52: Sylvia Brownlee
Even as a child growing up in Cincinnati, I always had dreams of influencing the beauty industry. So it was no surprise when I went to cosmetology school right after highschool, and quickly started a career at a high-profile salon. My natural ability to connect with clients made me a rising talent, and over the next 10 years I would transition into salon management before ultimately becoming the Director of Education at a renowned skin care institution. It was there that I discovered my passion for enhancing the lives of those who suffer from acne & hyperpigmentation. In 2015 I opened my studio where I treat clients with my custom skincare line and create treatment plans according to the clients concern. I love sharing my trusted expertise so women can have the confidence they deserve.
The Well 52: Brandon Saho
I'm a sports reporter turned podcaster! I loved my job as a sports reporter, but interviewing athletes, musicians and celebrities about mental health feels like my true purpose. My goal is to help anyone struggling like I was for so long with depression.
The Well 52: Molly Woodhull of Woodhull Wellness
I find moments of joy within each day and create healthy boundaries! This helps me balance work, play, and family. This means I have to integrate micro mindfulness and micro meditation practices often throughout my life.
The Well 52: Amy Vaughan, Owner and Chief Empowerment Officer of Together Digital
Over the last year, I have learned that my mental health is #1. As a woman, the world may strongly encourage me to alway put my physical health and appearance first, but I know if I'm not tending to my mental health needs nothing on the outside will change.
The Well 52: Sarah Tsai, Owner, Sarah Tsai Consulting
Do you have a business problem or goal that you need help with?
The Well 52: Christine Schaub – Vice President Financial Services, Fifth Third Bank
The most important thing I do for my wellness is I exercise 3-4 times a week. Non-negotiable! I primarily go to my gym and do strength training. I also meditate about 5 out of 7 days a week. My favorite app is Headspace
The Well 52: Nicole Armstrong, Founder and CEO of Ellequate
It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day operations of my business. Taking time to do the things I enjoy has been so important in maintaining my physical and mental health. In the warmer months you'll find me in the garden. Other days you might find me baking or working on a home improvement project. I love to be outside, so most days I take walks to clear my head and get some fresh air. And of course, spending time with my girls—mommy-daughter dates are the best!
The Well 52: Emily Kokenge – VP of Design Innovation & Capability at Procter & Gamble
The most important thing I do for my personal wellness is to be outside with friends – preferably moving. Walking, hiking, skiing, whatever – I’m all in. For me, it blends community and connection to my support systems with the objectivity and calm I feel being out in nature.
The Well 52: Dr. Sarah Crawford, Founder & CEO of Anchor Wellness Center
I prioritize joy. Doing something every day that makes me feel good and helps relieve stress. For me, its spending quality time with my kids and husband as they frequently make me laugh and allow me to be silly.
The Well 52: Dr. Gina Maccarone, Owner of Liore Surgical
Laugh! There are certainly places and times to be serious, but being able to laugh and not take ourselves too seriously is so important. It releases happy hormones! I would know, I'm a doctor!
The Well 52: Kristen Evans – Sociocultural Researcher & Wellbeing Commentator
One of the most important things I do for my wellness is sleep when I'm tired. In my teens I started pushing through tiredness to "get one more things done." Such a constant unhealthy habit completely threw off my natural sleep rhythm for the next 15+ years. I didn't know how to sleep well and battled insomnia.
The Well 52: René Robers, Sr. Manager of eCommerce, Heineken USA
Sleep is my healthiest habit – I usually get 8 hours a night (even with a toddler down the hallway!)
Do your best to stick to a consistent evening routine - I'm no sleep researcher, but I believe this helps your internal clock. I am in bed with a book between 9:30 - 10:30 p.m. (Sometimes I scroll social media first; but no TV on for bedtime!) Reading really helps me unwind, so after 30 minutes or so, I'm good & tired; I turn off the lamp and go to sleep.
