The Well 52: Nikki Winchester

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

Hi! I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and the Founder & CEO of Cincinnati Center for DBT, a mental health group practice specializing in treating suicidal individuals or those who have big emotions and don't have effective ways to cope. I love dance fitness, beagles, movies, music, and Pickleball.

What is the most important thing you do for your wellness?
Limit my working hours. When I started my company, I worked around the clock and became miserable. Ever since I've limited the hours I work, I've been able to truly live and enjoy my life. Having a solid work/life balance allows me to round out my life. I do my beloved dance fitness every day and pick up new hobbies (like Pickleball).

What is one piece of advice you'd give to others?
Make sure to allow for a minimum seven-hour sleep opportunity. Sleep is so key to everything and we aren't taught enough about it.

What is one quote/ mantra you live by?
"Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring." - Catherine of Siena

Brag on yourself- what is something you are REALLY proud of?
Getting my doctorate and starting a group practice! My dreams have come true and I am so grateful to those who have helped me get here.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the gold standard, evidence-based treatment for individuals who are chronically suicidal and have problems with regulating their emotions. If you or someone you know needs help, please send them our way.
