The Well 52: Kara Michelle Pierson

Tell us a little bit about yourself...
I'm a meditation guide nourishing the world with mindful creativity. My work has helped reduce stress for social workers, teachers, nurses, parents, athletic coaches, therapists, and students.

What is the most important thing you do for your wellness?
The most important thing I do for my wellness is prioritizing one or two areas of wellness at a time instead of trying to address everything at once. Whenever I alter something in my wellness routine, I give my self a few months to really see how the change feels in my body. How does it affect my thoughts and the way I show up in my relationships? Focusing on one, no more than 2, areas helps mecreate lasting change that sticks and helps me not get overwhelmed.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to others?
Try not to get too stuck and bogged down with deep healing. Leave some space in your life for joy, playfulness, and shallow things, too.

What is one quote/ mantra you live by?
“I touch my own skin, and it tells me that before there was any harm, there was miracle.” ― Adrienne Maree Brown, Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good

Brag on yourself- what is something you are REALLY proud of?
I'm extremely proud of co-creating a robust wellness program designed for Black Women in collaboration with Regina Patton and Queens Village Cincinnati. We created a wellness curriculum, authored an activity deck to go with it, and trained 5 women in the community to lead the groups in different neighborhoods around the city. We've gotten such positive feedback about thow this program has not only helped Black women tend to their wellness, but also helped them form relationships and build community.

Anything else you'd like to add?
As we approach holiday season, I'm available for booking mindful creativity experiences for groups and individuals that could use an extra bit of calm and relaxation.
