The Well 52: Dr. Ashley Solomon

Tell us a little bit about yourself...
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Galia Collaborative, a mental wellness organization dedicated to helping women heal, grow, and lead. I spend my professional time speaking, consulting, treating, and coaching, as well as leading Galia. I am committed to shining a spotlight on women's mental health and fostering important conversations about it in the places we live and work.

What is the most important thing you do for your wellness?
The most important thing I do for my wellness is to invest in my most significant relationships. When I feel closely connected and in sync in my relationships, I'm at my best in all of the other realms of life. I'm more motivated physically, emotionally, and professionally. For me, this looks like working to find quality time and be present with the people I love most and having real and vulnerable conversations when needed.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to others?
You are so much more than the worst day or crappiest decision that you have made. These are so often the things that stick with us and we end up discounting the multitude of other days ad decisions that define us.

What is one quote/ mantra you live by?
I have been living by the mantra for the last several years, "To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing." It's from Aristotle and it holds up today. I know that to make any kind of impact, I'm going to have to face critics.

Brag on yourself- what is something you are REALLY proud of?
I'm proud of the team I have cultivated at Galia being a true community. They are incredibly thoughtful and talented professionals, and I feel pretty awesome that they wanted to work with me. I'm also proud of shepherding my family through some some big transitions in the last two years.

Anything else you'd like to add?
What a gift it has been to be part of this wellness community locally! We are so passionate and brilliant.
