A Leadership Style with Dr. Gina Maccarone

Meet Dr. Gina Maccarone, our favorite Surgeonista!

In the ever changing landscape of healthcare, we as patients are constantly in search of a trusted physician that we believe has our best interests at heart. Dr. Gina Maccarone is one of those physicians whose dedication to female empowerment has made her the go-to plastic surgeon in the Cincinnati area.  A Leadership Style is delighted to introduce you to Dr. Maccarone, a surgeon who is committed to making women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident through both surgical and non surgical procedures.

Dr. Maccarone is dedicated to helping patients feel their best selves by working with them to enhance their features instead of radically changing them.  She is a surgeon, step-mom, and fierce wellness advocate that we can all learn from.  A self proclaimed introvert, Dr. Gina mentions a key to her success is to constantly push herself out of her comfort zone to expand her network and spread her message.  She is trying to rewrite the narrative that the plastic surgery industry is about vanity.  Rather, it is an industry devoted to helping men and women feel confident! It is important to her that her industry is looked at as a critical way of providing her patients self care.   To do this, she wants her patients to have ways to connect with each other and be proud of how plastic surgery has enhanced their lives.

It is this community and growing number of patients that motivates Dr. Gina each day. She is inspired by seeing them develop what she describes as a “glow” about them, whether she has operated on them or just given them advice! Her goal in her consultations with patients is to help them find the best path for their self confidence whether or not that involves surgery or a procedure.

She credits her successful business with her ability to push herself to try new things, learn new technologies, and always understand it's never too late to achieve your goals. Let’s not forget the path to where she is today involved several years of training.  This included 4 years of medical school, 5 years of residency, 1 year of a trauma and critical care fellowship, and 7 years as a practicing General Surgeon all before she started her fellowship in plastic surgery. Her work ethic is inspirational and we love that she never gave up on sharing her message of feeling and looking beautiful makes us into our best selves.

We are inspired not only by Dr. Maccarone’s dedication to her field but her motivation to change the unnecessary negative perceptions on plastic surgery that hinder men and women from feeling their best.  We are thankful to have her as part of our community at WISe Wellness Guild and are delighted to think about all of the lives she has changed for the better.

“A Leadership Style” is a column authored by WISe Wellness Guild founder Stevi Gable Carr and powered by Crunchmaster Crackers aimed at celebrating female leaders who have advanced in their careers because they have integrated work and life through whole-self wellness.

Ummm, good grief. She is NOT a plastic surgeon. Calling yourself a plastic surgeon does not make you one. She is a general surgeon who has never done a plastic surgery residency, or been board certified in plastic surgery. Scam alert!
