Well 52 with Julie Labanz

Tell us a little bit about yourself...
Julie is a licensed therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist offering sex-positive therapy services to clients in Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida. She specializes in relationship and sexual concerns, helping individuals and couples enhance their connection and navigate challenges to have more fulfilled lives. As the owner of Be Known and The Institute for Sex Positive Therapy, Julie is committed to promoting acceptance and supporting meaningful growth for her clients and fellow clinicians.
What is the most important thing you do for your wellness?
Maintaining intentional connections with loved ones is key to my wellness. Regular, meaningful conversations and time spent with those who matter most help keep me sane and feeling connected to myself and my community.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to others?
One piece of advice I’d give to others is to embrace open and honest communication about your desires and boundaries in all aspects of your relationships, including your sexual life. Being sex-positive means recognizing that everyone’s experiences and preferences are valid, and creating a space where those can be shared without judgment fosters deeper intimacy and connection.

What is one quote/ mantra you live by?
A mantra I consistently come back to is "it's okay to rest/take a break." A while back, someone gave me permission to do that and I've never turned back. We live in such a busy and productivity driven society and it can put people in quite a tailspin with trying to keep up. Giving myself permission to take a break (from work, social media, my phone, my partner, my pets, content that makes me feel pressured to be a certain way, etc.) helps me to show up as the best version of myself.

Brag on yourself- what is something you are REALLY proud of.
I am so proud of my growth journey to starting my business and bringing sex positivity to so many people's lives! I am so honored to be part of people's transformation process to growing and experiencing sexual and relational fulfillment. I think it's cool I've taken a passion and helped bring it to so many others.
